Kyra Gaunt is a digital media scholar, a professor at Baruch College at the City University of New York, and an inaugural TED Fellow. She is the author of The Games Black Girls Play: Learning the Ropes from Double-Dutch to Hip-Hop (NYUP), winner of the Alan Merriam Book Prize in ethnomusicology. She brings her experience as a black classically-trained musician and jazz improviser to her study of music, technology, and marginalized groups with a particular interest in algorithms, invisible audiences, and the unintended consequences of growing up online.
