Deborah R. Vargas is Associate Professor and The Henry Rutgers Term Chair in Comparative Sexuality, Gender, and Race at Rutgers University. She is the author of Dissonant Divas in Chicana Music: The Limits of La Onda (University of Minnesota Press) and co-editor with Nancy Raquel Mirabal and Lawrence La Fountain-Stokes of Keywords for Latina/o Studies (NYU Press). Vargas’s current work considers a sucialogy of sound, geography, and gender in a range of greater Mexican/borderlands texts and circuits.
